Welcome to the summer edition of Abbeydale Training News
Improving Writing SkillsBeing asked to put it in writing is often seen as a time consuming and costly chore. In every organisation there is a need to write reports, letters, memos and record information. Then there are the e-mails that have to be sent. The style, tone and presentation of the writing give the reader an impression of the writer and their organisation. A well structured and easy to read communication will enable the writer to get the required result. We provide short writing skills workshops that cover the key requirements of modern business writing. Each workshop is designed to meet the specific requirements of our clients and is delivered at their nominated sites in the UK. This has enabled us to deliver courses across a wide spectrum of organisations including universities, the rail industry, the food manufacturing industry and the Royal Air Force. They are delivered by tutors who have worked in government, the public services and private industry. Their practical experiences enable them to improve skills at every level. Staff in non managerial roles, middle managers and members of senior management teams have benefited from the programmes Please request a sample programme outline and details of costs for our half-day and one-day writing skills programmes. Course references MA85 and MA118.
Managing PerformanceIt is difficult for managers and team leaders to improve the performance of their staff unless they understand an organisation’s performance objectives and review system. It is also essential that they have the ability to carry out meaningful reviews and performance appraisals. Our one-day Managing Performance course examines the organisation’s system and the measures they have in place. It then moves on to tackle the problems of under performance and how to plan and effect a staff performance review with the emphasis on motivating and giving open and honest feedback to the under achiever. This programme is designed to be run within the organisation using case studies that are relevant to the situations encountered. Ask us for a course outline and cost quoting course reference MA88.
Coping with Change Change in the work-place is happening at such a pace that it is often difficult for employees at every level to see how they can cope. Our Coping with Change programme will provide delegates with an understanding of the process, the stages involved and their impact. It will stress the benefits to the individual and the organisation but also deal with the negatives including how to handle resistance to the planned changes. This programme can be run as a half-day or one-day programme with a choice over the activities and level of practical exercises. To receive a course outline and information on costs please quote course reference MA109
Developing your StaffAn increasingly important role for managers is to take responsibility for the ongoing development of their staff. Even if an organisation has a structured training and development resource in place it is still a line manager’s function to be involved in the process. We offer a two-day course that introduces managers to the discipline of staff development and covers the key areas of delegation, planning development, relationship building, coaching, interviewing skills, feedback and assessment. It is a mix of theory and practice with the emphasis on doing rather than listening. It is therefore a very practical programme involving delegates in situational exercises based on their work environment. Please quote course reference MA 107 to receive the course outline and costs.
